2009 Mazda 3 hatchback unveiled ahead of Bologna

Mazda has today released the first pictures of the new Mazda 3 hatchback, ahead of the Bologna Motor Show on December 3rd. The pictures come hot on the heels of the recently announced saloon and, just like the saloon, the Mazda 3 hatchback is a much fresher design, with far more sporty pretensions. One of the big aims for Mazda with the 3 was, of course, a much more economical car without sacrificing the old model’s strengths.

Peugeot Peugeot has proved that three-figure fuel economy figures for petrol engines might not be too far from becoming a reality, as its new 308 has set what it claims is a record of 99.1mpg. The 2014 European Car of the Year, powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol Puretech engine, covered 1,124.7 miles on just one tank of fuel when tested on a track in Spain. Jaguar XF Sportbrake

The Jaguar XF Sportbrake – the first ever offical Jaguar wagon – has been unveiled less than a week before its debut at the Geneva motor show. Everything from the B-pillar backwards is new compared to the XF sedan, included the extended DLO accent that's highlighted by the gloss black D-pillars, reminiscent of the XJ sedans'. The Sportbrake's overall length grows by only 5mm to 4,966mm, while its weight increases by less than 70kg.
